From the Migny to the Sacré-Cœur

The basilica sits on the Montmartre hill, about 1 km from Hôtel Migny. Allow roughly 15 minutes on foot — mainly because of the climb.

From 13 rue Victor Massé you are already at the foot of Montmartre.

How to get there

Walk, metro or funicular

Walk up through Montmartre, or metro Anvers / Abbesses then the funicular. Pigalle (lines 2 & 12) is 4 min from the hotel.

Stay tips

Visiting Sacré-Cœur from Pigalle

Mornings are calmer; wear good shoes for cobbles and steps.

3-star hotel at the historic Degas address — ideal base for the hill.

The Montmartre hill

Up to the Sacré-Cœur without straying far from Pigalle

The basilica towers over Paris from the top of the hill. From the Hôtel Migny, you approach it step by step: you leave rue Victor Massé, cross lively Pigalle, then take the sloping streets that lead to Abbesses, place du Tertre and the forecourt. Allow extra time if you stop to photograph the staircases, the vines or the artists' studios.

The Montmartre funicular is a comfortable option, especially with children or after an already busy day. A metro ticket is all you need. Once at the top, take time for the panorama: on a clear day the view stretches to the Eiffel Tower and the rooftops of central Paris. The gardens below offer a quieter break — see also our Parks & gardens page.

Getting back to the hotel doesn't mean crossing the whole city again: you walk back down to Pigalle in about fifteen minutes, depending on your pace. That is the advantage of a 3-star hotel at the foot of the hill rather than at the other end of Paris. Since 1962, the Migny has welcomed travellers and families looking for this balance between a quiet street and Montmartre right on the doorstep.

Tip: go up early in the morning to avoid the queues, then come down for lunch on rue des Martyrs before a rest or an outing towards the Opéra. In the evening, Pigalle metro (lines 2 and 12), about 4 minutes from the hotel, reconnects you with the rest of the city.

From the room

A real view, not in every room

Photos in the gallery show the Sacré-Cœur from a bedroom window, above the roofs. The view is real. It does not apply to the whole hotel: the building is at 13 rue Victor Massé, at the foot of the hill, not on the forecourt. If it matters for your stay, say so when you book. We confirm it according to which rooms are free.

Walking up to the basilica is still about a 15-minute stroll, mainly because of the climb (about 1 km). The window does not replace the forecourt, place du Tertre or the funicular.
