Why stay at the foot of Montmartre
Skip long transfers — go up and down at your own pace.
Degas address, 3-star hotel since 1962.
A hotel where two sides of Paris meet
Montmartre is more than a panorama: it is a web of lanes, squares, cafés and studios. Staying on rue Victor Massé puts you right at the tipping point between night-time Pigalle and the more village-like hill. In under ten minutes you reach the lower slopes and Abbesses; a little longer, depending on the climb, and you are at the Sacré-Cœur and place du Tertre.
This location avoids two extremes: hotels right next to the Tertre (often noisy and expensive) and those too far away, which mean the metro and a long walk for every outing. Here you can go up in the morning, come down for lunch and head back up in the late afternoon — an ideal rhythm for families and stays of several nights.
The history of the address adds a personal touch: Edgar Degas worked at no. 13 of the former rue de Laval. Staying at the Migny links the painters' Montmartre with the comfort of a contemporary 3-star hotel (air conditioning, 24-hour reception), open since 1962.

Planning 48 hours around Montmartre
Day 1: arrive at Pigalle metro, check in on rue Victor Massé, stroll up to Abbesses and the Sacré-Cœur in the late afternoon, dinner in the neighbourhood. Day 2: morning at place du Tertre or the Musée de Montmartre, afternoon towards the Opéra or Galeries Lafayette, and perhaps an evening at the Moulin Rouge — all without changing hotels. This kind of itinerary is only realistic if your base is already at the foot of the hill.
Allow time to recover, too: cobblestones and steps are tiring. Coming back to the hotel for a break between outings is a simple luxury that only accommodation really close to Montmartre can offer. Our air-conditioned rooms and 24-hour reception help make it possible.
