The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments of Paris, in the 8th arrondissement, it is located on the Place Charles de Gaulle or the place of the star, at the western end of the Champs Elysées where meet twelve avenues. The arc of triumph is about 50 meters high, 45 meters wide and 22 meters deep. It is the third largest in the world after the Arc de Triomf in Pyongyang, North Korea and the Revolutionary Monument in Mexico City. The construction began in 1806, in honor of one of Napoleon's victories at Austerlitz and it was only around 1836, during the reign of Louis Philips, that the construction was completed.
